What are Sriracha Seasoning Stix?

Sriracha Seasoning Stix are a culinary innovation to season meat, fish and poultry from the inside out.  Three U.S. Patents have been granted for the inventions and the technologies behind this innovative product.  We only use the REAL Sriracha Sauce from Huy Fong Food, Inc.  Is there any other kind?

Sriracha Seasoning Stix are solid "sticks" of REAL Huy Fong Foods, Inc. Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, seasonings, herbs, and other ingredients, which are inserted into meat, fish and poultry prior to cooking to season from the inside out.  At approximately 110°F (43°C) food science takes over.  As the cooking process drives out some of the water from the meat fibers, the Stixs begin to liquefy.  The meat then absorbs the seasonings like a sponge imparting flavors into the meat in a manner never previously possible.

Are Seasoning Stix really an innovation?

Seasoning Stix are the first innovation in seasonings and spices in centuries – that’s a bold claim we realize, but we believe it is true!

There are very few areas within the culinary world that are more unchanged than seasonings and spices.  While the pantries of professional chefs and home cooks throughout the world vary in the various mixtures and proportions of seasonings and spices, the seasoning of meat, fish and poultry is basically the same as it has been for centuries.   Seasoning Stix changes this dynamic in a significant manner.


How are Sriracha Seasoning Stix Used?

A Sriracha Seasoning Stix is encapsulated Huy Fong Foods, Inc. Sriracha Sauce, seasonings, herbs, and other ingredients in a “stick” format that can be inserted into meat, fish and poultry.  The cook inserts a Stix every few inches prior to cooking.  Small cuts of meat, a boneless chicken breast for example, typically requires three or four Stixs.  If more flavor is desired, or for larger cuts of meat, more Stixs can be used.  The more you use, the more spicy, delicious flavor of real Sriracha Sauce is infused. Simply and quick seasoning from the inside out!


Do Seasoning Stix Really Season From the Inside Out?

Meat is mainly water.  Until some of the water is driven out nothing will impart flavor into meat, fish, or poultry.  Sriracha Seasoning Stix are a solid until approximately 110°F when the sticks begin to liquefy.  The cooking process drives out some of the water from the meat fibers, which then act like a sponge to absorb the liquefied Sriracha and seasonings.  This is very different process compared to current methods.  Seasoning applied to the outside of meat, fish or poultry prior to, or during cooking, often falls off and what does stick can burn during cooking creating bad flavors.  Marinades only penetrate 1/8 of an inch into meat, are messy, time consuming and often filled with unhealthy ingredients, such as high fructose corn syrup and preservatives.

What are the Companies behind Sriracha Seasoning Stix?

Sugarmade, Inc., of City of Industry, California, which is publically traded on the over the counter stock market under the symbol SGMD, is the company behind this culinary innovation.  Sugarmade is a party to a license with Huy Fong Foods, Inc., of Irwindale, California and has permission from Huy Fong Foods, Inc. to use the licensed marks for the limited products and purposes permitted by the license.   Sugarmade licenses the patented Seasoning Stix technology from Wyoming-based, Seasoning Stixs International, LLC.


What is the Myth of Marinade?

Food scientists have produced a considerable body of research on the effectiveness of marinades.  The fact is a marinade does not significantly penetrate meat, fish, or poultry no matter how long it is left in contact with the food.  One European-based study by prominent food scientists and chemists showed that even after eight days a slightly salty marinade penetrated less than 1/8 inch and that a mildly acidic marinade showed next to no penetration.  Seasoning Stix are different and season from the inside out. Additionally, most consumers also do not realize what is actually in most commercial marinades with the major brands containing massive doses of sodium and high fructose corn syrup.  Despite all of these issues, food manufactures big and small sell billions of dollars of marinades each year.


Are Sriracha Seasoning Stix really Patented?

Absolutely!  Sriracha Seasoning Stix are covered by three U.S. patents.  All three are fully issued and in effect.  These are among the very few patents in the world of seasonings and spices.  The patents are controlled by Seasoning Stixs International, LLC, the company that produces Seasoning Stix.  


How are Seasoning Stixs made?

It took many years of tirelessly work to perfect a manufacturing process that produces Sriracha Seasoning Stixs.  It did not always go smoothly.  Many manufacturing processes were considered and more than a few prototypes were produced, which yielded products that were not up our team's high standards.  We then realized that rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, we would look to historical food production methods, which lead to a real manufacturing breakthrough. 

The actual manufacturing process we use is a trade secret, but it relies on an old world process originally developed in China during the 13th century.  Today, the process is still used by some food producers, particularly in Europe.


Are Seasoning Stix a healthy alternative to marinades?

Seasoning Stixs are a healthy and delicious alternative to marinades and are in many ways much more effective.   Most marinades are full of unhealthy ingredients including, high fructose corn syrup and significant amounts of sodium.  A single tablespoon of one of the leading commercial marinades contains more sodium than the average person should likely consume in an entire day.  We think Sriracha Seasoning Stix are a healthier alternative, are much easier to use and don't create such a mess - and of course, you get that great Sriracha flavor from the inside out.
